BIO

Tiffany Bensen is an Instructional Professor of Biology and teaches human biology as well as ecology and evolution to non-biology majors. She earned her Ph.D. in ecology from the University of California, Davis, where she researched sustainable agriculture and strategies for managing insect pests in crop systems. Her postdoctoral work focused on disease and insect management in vegetable crops in California’s Salinas Valley and in central North Carolina. Since becoming course coordinator for the Biology Department’s non-majors program in 2022, Dr. Bensen has worked in close collaboration within Biology’s team of non-majors instructors to redesign their 100-level courses to emphasize active learning and dynamic instruction in the University of Mississippi’s new Duff Center for Science, Technology, and Innovation.

WHY CLI?

I am motivated by the CLI to broaden my own skills in ethics and use what I learn in my non-majors biology course on biodiversity. I want to help my students to think critically about the environment so that they become informed citizens who value nature and make decisions that support preservation and conservation.
