BIO
Dr. Robert (Bob) Baker is currently the Senior Associate Athletics Director, Student-Athlete Development at Ole Miss. Baker’s career includes leadership roles in the non-profit and higher education sectors since 1995, including stints at the University of Tennessee (UTK), East Tennessee State University (ETSU), and University of Memphis leading to his current role at Ole Miss.
Prior to his career in higher education, Baker spent eight years working with at-risk youth in East Tennessee. A three-time graduate of UTK, Baker worked there from 2002-06 as the director of a college prep program and as an academic mentor for football student athletes. After UTK, he held administrative roles in athletics at ETSU, Memphis and began his employment here in 2018.
Baker received his doctoral degree from ETSU in 2016 in Educational Leadership. Baker’s research on the impact of concussion on student-athlete academic performance received a 2016 Research Award from the National Association for Academic Advisors for Athletes and was published in the International Journal of Sport Management (2017, vol. 18, no. 4).
He has been an Instructional Professor with the School of Applied Sciences since 2020 and helped create Graduate Certificate Programs in Intercollegiate Athletic Administration, Athletic Academic Success and NCAA Compliance.
