Ethan Davis

Assistant Director & Assistant Professor of Practice, The Center for Practical Ethics

BIO

Ethan Davis holds an M.A. in Philosophy from the University of Mississippi, with a focus on ethics and political philosophy. After graduate school, he worked in Washington, D.C. with nonprofits and advocacy groups on public education and policy. A member of Phi Beta Kappa, the Society for Ethics Across the Curriculum, and the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics, he also serves as a judge for the annual Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl national competition. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in Political Science from UM.

WHY CLI?

My focus as a CLI Scholar will be helping students understand the importance of character as it inheres in roles, particularly as professionals. I will conduct research and propose opportunities for students that highlights the unique requirements of professions (e.g., law, medicine, and engineering) and the appropriate virtues to form to be exemplars in their fields.
